Text:  Matthew 5:13-16

Message Summary:  As Christians, we’re called to be lights to those around us and those who encounter us, to show them the way out of darkness and illuminate their way, to see the truth of Christ!  We’re to shine bright in this dark world, a beacon of hope and warning, to save those in eminent danger … we’re to be a Lighthouse!

Message Summary:  God will sometimes present a need to us that we cannot fulfill, so that He can work a miracle and be glorified.  In those times we need to remember our limits and look to the one who is without them … Our God Is Limitless!

Text: 2 Peter 1:3-9

Message Summary:  For “experienced” Christians, there can be a danger of losing the wonder we have for God. The Bible verses that once thrilled us can become familiar and academic. If we’re not careful, we can fall into the habit of praying with our minds but not our hearts.  We need to work at Keeping It Fresh!

Key Verse:  For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Message Summary:  We often think that hardship is a sign that God is not with us or He’s not in a certain situation in our lives, but when we look at Paul’s life we get a very different picture … there are going to be times when God’s will is suffering.

Message Text:  Matthew 20:20-28

Message Summary:  We are driven by “greatness” … to be MORE … more than we are, more than we have been, more than our parents were before us.  We also have a perspective of what greatness is and how we’re to get there.  But God’s perspective and way to greatness is very different from our own … the way to greatness is to serve.

Message Summary:  Abraham’s grandson, Jacob, came to a place in his life where he encountered God personally.  In response to God’s commitment of faithfulness to him, he pledged himself and what he owned to the Lord.  As believers, our encounter with the Lord should invoke a similar pledge, where we SURRENDER all to the Lord … all we are, all we do, and all we own.

Message Summary:  We often experience fear and panic when facing the trials of this life.  In response, all we have to do to have peace is run to our Heavenly Father, because he’s a Strong God!

Key Verse:  You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4 NKJV

In Paul’s letter to the church in Ephesus [Ephesians 6:10-20], his final focus was to assert their need to Get Ready for the life that awaited them as early believers.  In the same way as this New Year stretches ahead of us, we need to take Paul’s words to heart.  Looking ahead to this “new day” we need to be strong in the Lord, to be resolute in our calling, and to Get Ready!
