In Paul’s letter to the church in Ephesus [Ephesians 6:10-20], his final focus was to assert their need to Get Ready for the life that awaited them as early believers. In the same way as this New Year stretches ahead of us, we need to take Paul’s words to heart. Looking ahead to this “new day” we need to be strong in the Lord, to be resolute in our calling, and to Get Ready!

In Ephesians 4:1-6, the Apostle Paul begins to speak to the church in Ephesus about how they should conduct themselves as believers. He urges them to live a life worthy of the calling and lists humility, patience and unity as a start. As believers, we have also received a “calling” from God and are to live a life worthy being called, “Christian.”

In Ephesians 2:11-22 the Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Ephesus with an encouragement to remember where God had brought them through Christ. This is an important thing for us to do as well so that we can see our progress, be thankful for all we’re given and empathise with those who are still “far away” from Him. We’re also to live in the revelation and lifestyle of one who has been brought “closer” … Praise God!

The Apostle Paul reminds the church in Ephesus that before Christ they were dead, like spiritual zombies. It was the resurrection power of God that brought them to spiritual life! We are to be reminded of the same … life without Christ is death and in Him there is life!
